About the Ashfield Greens

The Greens Principles

The Greens overriding philosophy can be summed up in four key principles:

  • Social Justice
  • Grassroots Democracy
  • Ecological Sustainability
  • Peace and Non Violence

The Charter of the Australian Greens expands on these core principles and explains their importance in the preamble.

Federal Seats

The Ashfield Greens predominantly live in the federal electoral seat of Grayndler.
State Seats

At the state level Ashfield Greens are split between the seats of Canterbury (southern and east Ashfield), Strathfield (west and central Ashfield), and Balmain (Haberfield).

Local Government

We have three councillors on Ashfield Municipal Council;

Clr Marc Rerceretnam (South Ward),

Clr Lyall Kennedy (North-East Ward), and

Clr Patrick Kelso (East Ward).

Meetings:

We meet on the first Thursday of each month in the Summer Hill Community Centre, 131 Smith Street. Members are encouraged to attend. Non-members are welcome to attend one meeting as an observer.
