Anthony has kindly put together a presentation on the work he and Louise have done greening their home. A remarkable amount of work has gone into the house. Highlights include solar cells on the roof and water bladders under the house. Anthony is also keen on experimenting with various gardening techniques and bee keeping. It is a new year for the Summer Hill – Ashfield Greens, and a lot of work by a number of people had gone into Summer Hill - Ashfield Greens events last year. Election campaigns were the major focus of attention and energy, with virtually no time for a breather between the State election in November 2007 and starting to plan and campaign for the recent local council elections.
The fantastic result is an endorsement of our work and our policies. Marc, Lyall and Patrick were elected with good margins and Selene, despite a very late start, only narrowly missed out on picking up a North Ward seat. Margaret was instrumental in the formation of the Burwood-Strathfield Greens, who are about to be affiliated with the NSW Greens. It was great to see Christine Donayre elected onto Burwood Council as a Greens’ councillor, a result that led directly to Lesley Furneaux-Cook from Burwood Community Voice being elected as Mayor.

Our next meeting will be on Thursday 5th February 2009, from 7.00pm – 9pm.

Kind regards
